Fisheries resources of Bangladesh: A review

Fisheries sector plays a significant role in national food security, empowerment and foreign exchange earnings the economy of Bangladesh. At same time, Bangladesh is blessed with enormous water resources inland culture (8,21,923 ha), capture (38,90,282 ha) marine (1,18,81,300 having great potentials fisheries production. Inland culture, provides 56.76%, 28.19% 15.05% production, respectively. The aim this review paper to provide comprehensive overview on Bangladesh, those are underutilized and/or need emphasis enhance more fish Recently, production has increased rapidly due adoption improved farming practices by farmers. However, not yet been attained its optimum level over exploitation, habitat degradation, siltation bodies pollution. Therefore, increase conserve biodiversity, various approaches such as community-based management, beel nurseries, stocking fingerlings endangered species, establishment sanctuaries, cage pen systems can be adopted. Additionally, existing banning rules regulations catching during breeding season from like rivers, haors, baors, beels etc. should implemented properly for conserving biodiversity increasing 22-days rivers 65-days have significantly hilsha In addition, blue recently gained impressive attention getting huge Myanmer 2012 India 2014. aquaculture example seaweed, sea bass, mullets, promfrets, mud crab adopted achieving United Nations agenda sustainable development goal 14 conservation, sustainability use oceans, seas economic benefits.
